COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Hillsboro debuts its downtown winter market on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Civic Center Plaza, inviting residents to shop local food and artisan vendors in a heated tent. The event runs every Saturday through March 21 (organized by Hillsboro Farmers’ Markets) and offers SNAP benefits and kid-friendly activities. Hillsboro News-Times
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Starting this fall, the state will guide all 197 school districts using seven new student success benchmarks, including attendance and academic skills. Districts failing to meet targets after two years will receive coaching and risk funding changes by the end of the 2030 school year. KATU

- ➤ Local high school basketball games were played last night with competitive scores across teams; Hillsboro girls won 52-17 over Parkrose while other matchups include Jesuit winning on both sides (boys 59-58 and girls 72-52 over Southridge) and additional contests. Hillsboro News-Times
- ➤ The University of Portland will host Oregon State in a baseball game at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark on May 5, marking the seventh matchup here since 2018 (tickets go on sale Feb. 14 with season ticket holders receiving early access starting Feb. 12). Hillsboro News-Times
