- ➤ Former Westview standout and two-time WNBA champion Kara Braxton died in a car accident this past weekend in Atlanta+ she is survived by her husband and two sons. Hillsboro News-Times
- ➤ On Saturday, Feb. 21, Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue fought a fire on Southwest Hillsboro Highway that destroyed a four-story log home and an RV — all residents and their pets were safe as firefighters from Hillsboro and Dundee assisted. Hillsboro News-Times

- ➤ Restaurant AMA in downtown Hillsboro has reopened its enclosed rooftop as a tiki pop-up bar offering tropical drinks & Hawaiian comfort fare. The revamped space, funded by a city grant, will host rotating events including live island reggae performances on Feb. 28. Hillsboro News-Times
- ➤ Don Atwell, with 35 years in printing and media, has been named a regional publisher with CMG Oregon to oversee local publications covering Washington, Columbia and Yamhill counties—he replaces longtime publisher Nikki DeBuse and brings a strong commitment to community journalism. - ➤ Helen Raptis, the longtime host of AM Northwest (nearly 29 years on air), announced her retirement effective at the end of May. The award-winning personality also earned a Regional Emmy and was inducted into the Silver Circle for her impact on local broadcasting. KATU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ University of Oregon researchers say 33 wildfire alert cameras in western Oregon may shut down if the legislature does not approve at least two-million dollars in funding by Mar. 8. The cameras have helped keep small fires from growing larger. KXL
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Local high school wrestlers qualified for the OSAA State Wrestling Championships (Feb. 26-28) at the Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum in Portland and will compete for state titles. Hillsboro News-Times
- ➤ At Tigard High School on Feb. 21, West Linn won the Three Rivers League Wrestling Championships with 400.5 points while Tualatin and Tigard placed second and third (top wrestlers qualify for the state tournament from Feb. 26 to Feb. 28 at Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum in Portland).
