- ➤ Meals on Wheels leadership warned that federal funding cuts from a 40% staff reduction at the Administration for Community Living could force the program to lose 400,000 meals—possibly 200,000 more—for seniors and people with disabilities. The group said it will use emergency funds and ask for donations to keep its services running. KOIN
- ➤ Governor Tina Kotek revealed a pilot project called Housing 360 to offer housing stability for unsheltered Oregonians facing mental illness, and the state awarded $3.4 million in grants to community partners in Benton, Marion, Washington and Wasco counties—helping connect people with housing and mental health services. This program will use the funding to boost outreach and case management efforts across these regions. KOIN
- ➤ Rep. Bonamici visited the Oregon Food Bank warehouse on April 3 and found shelves with 40% less food due to federal cuts—removing 90 truckloads worth about $6 million. The food bank president said they did not receive official notice from USDA and cannot quickly fill the gap. KXL
- ➤ On Thursday, Oregon lawmakers unveiled a $1.9B transportation package to fix aging roads and bridges and to prevent job cuts by boosting funding—this includes raising fuel and other fees with an eight-cent per gallon increase starting on January 1st, 2026.
