- ➤ The Oregon Travel Information Council invites community members to visit and nominate heritage trees this spring. In Washington County, six recognized trees, including downtown Hillsboro (the sequoias at the courthouse), connect locals with regional history, and nominations remain open. Hillsboro News-Times
- ➤ Federal officials propose to centralize wildfire response by creating a U.S. Wildland Fire Service in 2027 that would merge efforts from the Forest Service & Department of the Interior; Oregon lawmakers question the plan, citing concerns over staffing and transparency as billions are requested for wildfire management.
