  • Minna and Yabnat Mekonnen, aged 6 and 9, moved from Ethiopia to Hillsboro in March 2024 and are learning English at Jackson Elementary School. BUSINESS NEWS

  • NTT Global Data Centers is expanding its campus in Hillsboro by acquiring new land near its facility at 4050 NE Evergreen Road. The planned expansion will add 216 megawatts (MW) to boost its total capacity to 354 MW and is part of an over $10 billion investment through 2027.  Hillsboro Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Portland Community College unveiled its redesigned Bombardier Q400 training aircraft that was donated by Horizon Air, and the plane will be open for tours at Hillsboro Airport on Saturday, May 17 and Sunday, May 18. The aircraft features a fuselage wrap and blue tail created by a PCC graduate after 150 to 200 hours of work—an update that will help students learn modern engine and avionics technologies.  KXL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Hillsboro Airport will build a 1300 foot taxiway called Taxiway K — it will help ease delays and improve safety as part of a project that also rebuilds Taxiway B and adds new safety lighting. Oregon lawmakers announced federal grants amounting to $22.7 million, with $3.14 million for this project, and work will run from May through September.  Hillsboro News-Times

  • An article released yesterday details projected tournament brackets for Oregon high school softball based on OSAA rankings and current standings across all classes.
