SPORTS NEWS

  • At the Three Rivers League Track & Field Championships held May 21 and 23 at Oregon City High School, Tigard’s Paul Hretcanu crossed the finish line victorious—teams from Oregon City, West Linn, and Tigard earned 147, 139, and 138 points respectively while state qualifiers were named in multiple events. The meet showcased close competition and set the stage for more challenges ahead.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • Glencoe High School softball built momentum last week by beating Forest Grove to tie for second place in the Pacific Conference as they now prepare for a first round playoff game with Tualatin later this week. Coach Wade Sahlfeld said the team grew stronger by giving more play time to younger players—efforts that have united and prepared them for the postseason.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • Westview's doubles team, Malavika Rahul and Tessa Rozendal, avenged their loss in districts and won the girls doubles final 6-2, 4-6, 6-3, which helped lead Westview to the state team title at the OSAA/OnPoint Community Credit Union 6A tournament held May 23-24 at Tualatin Hills Tennis Center in Beaverton — their victory capped three years of playing together.  Hillsboro News-Times
