  • After delays, the long-awaited Cloud Nest sculpture by Becky Borlan will be installed by end of 2026 at Shute Park to replace a planter bed near the playground. Updated renderings show an elevated dome with cutout patterns (from community workshops) to meet safety and accessibility guidelines.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • A summer exhibit titled Time & Place debuts at Walters Cultural Arts Center on Tuesday, June 2. Local artists explore urban infrastructure through abstraction and industrial imagery, and the center hosts a free reception from 5 to 8 p.m. with live music & art activities.  Hillsboro News-Times

  • Oregon officials express concern that long-term staffing cuts from U.S. Forest Service restructuring could affect wildfire response capacity. Local fire leaders and the state forester say current operations remain intact & no short-term service reductions are expected as the severe season unfolds.  KATU
  • TriMet’s board will propose cutting service on 34 bus lines during Wednesday’s fiscal 2027 budget meeting — changes effective Aug. 23 that follow denied tax increases and include adjustments to the MAX Green line. The move aims to address a funding gap in the transit system.  KATU
