  • Reedville Cafe turned 75 this year and welcomed new owner Tim Sapa in April, ending decades of Van Beveren family management on Southeast Tualatin Valley Highway. Sapa, who has 35 years of restaurant experience, said he will keep the diner’s classic menu and cozy service—while the Chamber of Commerce hosts a ribbon cutting on June 12 at 4 p.m.  Hillsboro News-Times

  • Hillsboro police are searching for a suspect accused of sexually assaulting a woman who was sleeping at the 12th and Washington MAX Station at about 4 a.m. on May 20 - police ask anyone with information on the Chevy Express white van to contact dispatch and reference HPD Case #25-9983.  KATU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • OSHA fined Renner Trucking and Excavating Inc. more than $80,000 on May 12th after inspectors found workers in an unprotected trench deeper than five feet during a home construction project in Beaverton — the fine covers repeated safety violations and the company has 30 days to appeal.  KXL
  • Memorial Day weekend marked the start of the North Coast Express bus that connected the Portland area with northern coast spots by leaving Sunset Transit Center in Beaverton—northbound trips served Seaside, Astoria and Cannon Beach while southbound trips went to Rockaway Beach and Tillamook Creamery for $35 with an extra fee for large items. The service ran on summer weekends with scheduled morning departures and evening returns and will continue through Aug. 31.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • Oregon lawmakers passed a bill Tuesday that lets courts impose separate sentences for acts like strangulation and assault in domestic violence cases—this change fixes a 2024 decision that merged multiple charges into one offense and now heads to Governor Tina Kotek for her signature.  KOIN
