- ➤ Hillsboro caretaker Jack Patrick Hauser, 47, pleaded guilty on June 13 to human trafficking and forcing a man with intellectual disabilities to sell snacks at the Hillsboro Esplanade — he exploited nearly every aspect of the victim’s life — and he will serve a two-year prison sentence under the Oregon Department of Corrections. - ➤ The Helvetia Lavender Festival will celebrate 18 years on July 4-6 and July 11-13 at Helvetia Lavender Farm (12814 N.W. Bishop Road) with vendors, live music, food, and family activities while raising funds for Samaritan Ministries in Ukraine. The event runs Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and costs $10 per adult with free parking and free entry for children under 13. Hillsboro News-Times
