  • Intel told employees on June 14 that it will cut 15% to 20% of its global factory workers starting in July—no WARN notice has been filed yet—and it is unclear if Washington County will be affected. The move comes after past layoffs that have already reshaped the local high-tech workforce.  Hillsboro News-Times

CULTURE NEWS

  • Residents will attend the 2025 Unitus Community Credit Union Latino Cultural Festival at Hillsboro Ballpark, where the Hillsboro Hops will host food, music, art, a futsal tournament and boxing matches on Sunday, June 22 from noon to 7 p.m.—The free event will also offer a kids’ play area and family-friendly activities celebrating Latino heritage.  Hillsboro News-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Hillsboro has chosen Project Homeless Connect Washington County to operate its first year-round homeless shelter at 311 S.W. 17th Ave.—the project, located near Dairy Creek Park and WinCo, is advancing with construction expected to finish this fall and a 75-guest capacity planned with wrap-around services that will open this winter.  Hillsboro News-Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Federal officials have asked for personal data from the Medicaid-funded Oregon Health Plan — which covers undocumented immigrants — in a federal crackdown on access to care. Gov. Tina Kotek said her office is reviewing the order and that the state must comply by the end of July.  KOIN
