- ➤ Governor Tina Kotek signed into law on Tuesday a bill that gives striking workers unemployment benefits after two weeks on the picket line with benefits capped at 10 weeks—making Oregon the first state to support public employees in this way. Lawmakers reached a final compromise on the measure after extensive debate and over 1,000 written testimonies were submitted. KOIN
- ➤ Oregon House Speaker Julie Fahey proposed a modified transportation plan on Wednesday afternoon that lowers the gas tax increase to 12 cents next year and removes the sales tax on new and used cars. Lawmakers must pass the bill in both chambers by Sunday — if not, up to 1,000 jobs and 600 positions at ODOT may be at risk. KATU
