ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Firefighters responded at 4 a.m. yesterday to a home in the 13600 block of Skyline Boulevard after multiple 911 calls reported a two alarm fire with heavy flames and a downed powerline blocking the road—crews also battled a brush fire extending 100 feet from the residence and no injuries were reported.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • A fire broke out Thursday morning on Northwest Skyline Boulevard near Bethany as a house was quickly engulfed in flames; fire crews responded around 4 a.m. and had the blaze and a 100-foot brush fire under control by 5:30 a.m.—they also dealt with a downed power line and narrow road access.  KOIN
  • Firefighters from multiple agencies battled a two-alarm residential fire on Thursday morning off Northwest Skyline Blvd in the west hills north of Rock Creek—embers from the fire started a 100-foot brush fire and crews had to shuttle water around a downed powerline while a fire investigator determines the cause and no injuries were reported.  KATU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A Portland State University review examined the 2021 heat dome that brought triple-digit temperatures and over 200 deaths across Oregon and Washington, finding that a rare mix of weather factors led to the record heat. Professor Paul Loikith said human activity likely raised temperatures by 1—3 degrees Celsius and warned that similar events may become more frequent in the future.  KATU
