- ➤ The Hillsboro Downtown Partnership got $100,000 from a recent city council meeting to fund improvements in downtown, and the money will go to boosting community outreach + beautification projects. KXL
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Seffarine will perform Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Hillsboro’s Walters Cultural Arts Center—this band features Moroccan-born vocalist Lamiae Naki and multi-instrumentalist Nat Hulskamp along with musicians from Iran, Spain and the United States who blend North African, flamenco and Mediterranean sounds. Tickets will cost $35 in advance and $40 at the door with an early discount available through July 25. Hillsboro News-Times

- ➤ Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield and 20 other AGs are suing the federal government over a policy that now forces Head Start programs to check family immigration status — a change that could cost Oregon over $3.1 million a year and affect nearly 5,000 children.
