  • A teenager who opened fire at a 2023 Hillsboro house party was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 32.5 years after pleading guilty on July 7—he killed one classmate and injured another when he was nearly 18.  Hillsboro News-Times

  • Washington County commissioners voted Tuesday, July 22 to adopt new guidelines that shift county language from equity and DEI to access and opportunity so that over $135 million in federal funding is preserved. The resolution directs county staff to review compliance and update training in line with state and federal anti-discrimination laws—ensuring local services can continue.  Hillsboro News-Times
