CRIME NEWS

  • Authorities began an investigation on July 21 in Aloha after a 20-year-old woman reported being held against her will and sexually assaulted at a home on SW Applegate Drive when suspect Dru Hendrix, 58, was arrested on July 22 and booked on charges including first-degree sodomy, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree unlawful sexual penetration, kidnapping and attempted compelling prostitution — further charges may follow as the investigation continues.  KATU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On July 25th, Washington County Search and Rescue replaced its 25-year-old van with a new $70,000 vehicle provided by the sheriff’s office foundation—this upgrade gives rescue teams improved transport for emergencies.  Hillsboro News-Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The all-state 6A softball team—announced on Friday, July 25—featured several Washington County high school standouts with Sherwood earning five honors, Glencoe four and Forest Grove and Sunset three each. The state champion Sherwood team posted a record of 29 wins to 3 losses and players like freshman pitcher Presley Ramos and senior catcher McKenna Parmelee earned top positions as Coach Kris Moore was named Coach of the Year.  Hillsboro News-Times
