CULTURE NEWS

  • Next Level Pinball Museum in Hillsboro was named America’s best arcade by Newsweek, and it has many pinball and video games. The building covers 27,000 sq ft (mixing old and new games) and attracts fans (with vintage items from past decades).  KOIN
  • Over 1,200 Hillsboro residents helped choose family-friendly films for Pix in the Park, a free outdoor movie series returning for five Friday nights in August at local parks. The events include pre-show activities at 7:30 p.m., dusk screenings with snack vendors, and no alcohol will be allowed — with Rocky II opening the series today at Bagley Park.  Hillsboro News-Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Governor Tina Kotek signed an executive order that requires Oregon school districts to submit cell phone ban plans by October 31 with bans set to begin on January 1 to reduce class distractions and help improve student well-being. Hillsboro schools will have students store their phones in backpacks - they are not buying storage pouches.  KATU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TriMet announced it will begin reducing at least 10% of its transit services starting Nov 30—part of a plan to close a projected $300 million gap, and riders in Washington County may soon see fewer buses and less frequent MAX service. Officials said future revenue measures, including a possible fare hike, are under review—exact details on affected routes have not yet been released.  Hillsboro News-Times
