- ➤ The Sunset Apollos won the state title and their first championship in 31 years, and three of their players were named to the 6A All-State team—senior Kruz Schoolcraft earned Pitcher of the Year after being picked by the Padres. - ➤ The Portland Timbers will host Club Querétaro in the Leagues Cup at Providence Park later this season, marking Querétaro’s second match and first visit to a state that matters to its new owner Marc Spiegel—who grew up a fan of local sports—and Spiegel said he plans to improve the team’s play and business after a rocky start.
