  • The Oregon Humane Society said that two of the 16 rescue dogs flown from Central Texas after flash floods were adopted and now have new homes. They arrived last Thursday and were being evaluated for health and behavior—other dogs remain under review before adoption.  KATU

CRIME NEWS

  • In May, former Fred Meyer employee Rainbow Stammet—43 years old—pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated theft and one count of theft and was sentenced to 26 months in jail with an order to repay over $60,000 to the retailer.  KATU

CULTURE NEWS

  • Randall Vemer opens his MusArt exhibition today at the Walters Cultural Arts Center with a free reception from 5 to 8 p.m.—the solo show displays over 30 oil portraits that capture musicians from around the world.  Hillsboro News-Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Portland General Electric filed a request with the Oregon Public Utility Commission last month for a roughly 2% rate hike starting next year that will raise electricity rates for all customers by about 2.2% + the funds will update its power grid to help avoid larger hikes later. The commission will decide in March if the change is approved + its decision may affect both residential and industrial users.  KATU
