GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors filed a lawsuit in July against the state agencies over Oregon’s Plastic Pollution and Recycling Modernization Act—arguing the law forces supply chain businesses to pay extra fees and may harm interstate commerce. KOIN
- ➤ Local leaders and experts have revived a plan to replace the Interstate Bridge to improve safety and ease congestion on a five-mile stretch—District 29 Representative Susan Mclain from Hillsboro said the plan calls for updating seven interchanges and may cost over $10 billion—while critics note that previous talks broke down over outdated fiscal estimates. - ➤ A preliminary assessment shows that the State Library of Oregon will lose about $2.6 million a year in LTSA funds that are missing from the 2026 budget, which will force staff cuts and cancel services starting in June.
