- ➤ Gaston is hosting the 28th annual Wapato Showdown at Brown Park from today to Aug. 16 — drawing hundreds of vehicles and visitors for car shows and community fun. The event's schedule features a parade, a cornhole tournament and live music — with proceeds supporting youth baseball and college scholarships. Hillsboro News-Times
- ➤ Hillsboro’s free OrencoFest harvest festival will take place Saturday, Sept. 20 at Orenco Station’s Jerry Willey Plaza from noon to 7 p.m.—featuring cold brews, live music by River Twain, Fox and Bones and Hit Machine, local vendors, and a beer stein contest at 3:30 p.m. Hillsboro News-Times
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Hillsboro police are searching for a suspect connected to a series of thefts at local businesses over the last month; they released a surveillance image and a white Dodge minivan (license 147-QLG) and ask anyone with information to call Detective Megan Townsend at 503-681-5329. KATU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TriMet will close the Robertson Tunnel from Sept. 7 through Sept. 13 for major MAX improvements — the project will update overhead wires, track segments, and rail ties under Washington Park. Shuttle buses will replace trains between Sunset Transit Center and Providence Park, and riders may face longer travel times, especially when heading to the airport. Hillsboro News-Times

- ➤ The Portland Trail Blazers are reportedly being sold to a group led by the owner of the Carolina Hurricanes—reports indicate the deal will keep the team in Portland and wait for NBA Board ratification.
