- ➤ The City of Hillsboro will open a new year-round homeless shelter before the end of the year on Southwest 17 Avenue and Tualatin Valley Highway run by Project Homeless Connect with space for at least 75 people—40 shelter pods and 35 beds—and low-barrier admission that welcomes pets. KATU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ After a rough start to Friday’s session, lawmakers reached a deal on a transportation funding bill on Sunday to prevent layoffs at the Department of Transportation, fix roads and help transit. The House voted on the package on Monday and the Senate will vote on it Wednesday—changes include higher gas, vehicle and title fees while ending a temporary payroll tax increase in 2028—ensuring funds for future projects.
