ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house on Northwest Clapshaw Hill Road in rural Washington County was damaged early Wednesday when a fire broke out at 2:15 a.m. — Firefighters controlled the main blaze in 15 minutes and took another hour to extinguish hidden spots — while the resident and their dog safely escaped and officials investigate the cause.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • At 6:13 a.m. yesterday, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash on the 33000 block of Southwest Johnson School Road near Cornelius when a 30-year-old Forest Grove resident attempted to pass in a no-passing zone (an illegal maneuver) and collided with a motorcyclist who was airlifted to a hospital with life-threatening injuries while a passenger received non-life-threatening care and the investigation remains ongoing.  Hillsboro News-Times

  • The Hillsboro chapter of Willamette Writers will begin its 2025–26 workshop series with free events at Brookwood Library after receiving an $875 grant from the Hillsboro Arts & Culture Council—sessions include a workshop with freelance editor Amber Finnegan on Sept. 9 and another with novelist J.B. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hillsboro is asking residents to share their views on climate change in an online survey open until Friday, Sept. 12 to help build the city’s climate action plan—designed to address heat waves and wildfire smoke. The feedback will guide the city’s next steps before the plan goes to the City Council.  Hillsboro News-Times
