AAA warned that drivers in our region will face record-high gas prices ahead of Labor Day weekend as regular unleaded nears $5 per gallon due to dwindling summer-blend supplies and pipeline issues amid global tensions.
🏛️ Government
Two intersections along Cornell Road will get safety improvements including a new signal at 21st Avenue and updated access at 17th Avenue.
An open house runs through Monday, Sept. 14 for residents to review plans + give feedback while design work finishes by winter 2027 and construction begins summer 2027.
🏥 Health
Health inspectors in Hillsboro conducted unannounced visits in early August; local restaurants such as Starbucks at 2521 S.E.
Tualatin Valley Highway earned perfect scores while others like Javier’s Tacos and Dutch Bros. Coffee scored below 85 (issues included improper storage and hygiene).
🏈 Sports
On Sept. 2 at PK Park, the Hillsboro Hops beat the Eugene Emeralds 5 to 2 with strong pitching by Rio Britton who struck out 11 and timely hitting by Kayson Cunningham and Yassel Soler.
The win improved their record to 10 wins in 13 games.
Portland Winterhawks games will stream free on YouTube for the 2026-27 season starting Friday, Sept.
18 as the league replaces Victory Plus amid uncertainty. Commissioner Dan Near said the change will help reach more fans.
