CRIME NEWS

  • The FBI is searching for Ronald Scott Watson— a Georgia fugitive wanted for the 2020 ICE facility arson in Atlanta— who is now believed to be in the Portland metro area with a $10,000 reward for his capture.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • The FBI is asking for public help today in locating Ronald Watson—28-year-old convicted felon wanted for a 2020 arson attack on an ICE building in downtown Atlanta—who is believed to be hiding in the Portland metro area.  KXL

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Oregon's child welfare agency said it will update safe sleep training for foster parents after a 4-month-old died in a DockATot bed—changes are scheduled to be completed by Jan. 1. The report urges that prospective caregivers learn about safe sleep practices to prevent similar tragedies.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • Lawmakers in the Oregon House and Senate met during a two-week pause to work on a $4.3 billion transportation package meant to avoid hundreds of layoffs at the state Department of Transportation. The House returned on Friday at 11 a.m. to meet a constitutional rule, and the Senate postponed a Wednesday vote to two weeks later due to Sen. Gorsek's health concerns—adding uncertainty to changes that could raise taxes and fees.  Hillsboro News-Times
