- ➤ Starting in 2026, new state laws will protect Oregonians from unpaid medical bills hurting their credit and stop car dealers from changing loan terms once a sale is completed — online sellers must also disclose fees before checkout. Gov. Tina Kotek, lawmakers, and consumer advocates celebrated these measures in Salem on Monday to help consumers avoid unexpected costs. Hillsboro News-Times
