- ➤ A federal judge for the Northern District of California issued a temporary restraining order on Sept. 18 that halted the USDA's demand for states to turn over SNAP recipients' personal information—Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield said the ruling protects families from having to choose between food and privacy. The order applies to most states in the lawsuit, covering about 751,000 Oregonians who rely on SNAP to meet their food needs. KOIN
