- ➤ Caprice Massey, Washington County's first female sheriff, was sworn in on Dec. 1 and now leads the force in Hillsboro by checking in with officers and creating growth opportunities for women. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TriMet will cut service on five bus lines including the FX2—these changes will start in November and result from a $300 million shortfall and slower ridership recovery so that service is reduced by 10% until 2028—and the agency is gathering feedback through online and in-person open houses in October. - ➤ Rigoberto Hernandez, a 23-year-old firefighter detained by U.S. Border Patrol while fighting the Bear Gulch Fire, returned home on Sept. 23 after nearly four weeks at the Northwest ICE Processing Center—he said he is glad to be with his family. KOIN
