- ➤ The Washington County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its 2025 Annual Awards from businesses, organizations and community members with nominations closing by Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. Award winners will be honored at the Gala on Dec. 3 at NW Events and Environments+ tickets cost $95 per person. - ➤ Yelp released its top 100 coffee shop list and five Pacific Northwest cafes were included, such as Family Café in Beaverton that serves American and Arabic dishes along with coffee. The list also featured Makario Coffee Roasters in Everett, Wolfe Club Coffee Roasters in Tacoma, Macadon’s in Renton and La Perlita in Portland—highlighting regional coffee trends. KOIN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, more than a dozen Oregon mayors—led by Portland Mayor Keith Wilson—signed a letter rejecting federal plans to deploy National Guard troops in Portland and pledged to block local support for militarized enforcement; they said using legal and legislative options would protect civil rights. - ➤ Twenty attorneys general from Oregon, Washington, and other states said mifepristone is safe in a joint statement issued Monday—vowing to protect access if it is challenged.
