- ➤ A new study from Oregon State University shows that large West Coast earthquakes may strike at nearly the same time when the Cascadia and northern San Andreas faults sync—putting Portland and other cities at risk. Researchers drilled sediment cores off the coast and found evidence of three past events where the faults ruptured within minutes of each other. KOIN

- ➤ Kaiser Permanente workers in Hillsboro plan to strike next Tuesday after their contract expired last month as they join 44,000 staff to demand better pay and safer conditions—picketing will start at Kaiser Westside in Hillsboro. KATU
