- ➤ Washington County artists will open their studios for the annual Open Studios Tour on Saturday, Oct. 18 and Sunday, Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.—the free event features 50 artists, including seven newcomers, who will show how they turn ideas into art. The tour, organized by the Washington County Art Alliance, gives visitors a chance to see different art styles up close. Hillsboro News-Times

- ➤ Timberline Lodge reported that its liability insurance has increased by 586% since 2020 and it has secured new coverage for the upcoming ski season at a steep cost so guests will pay more for tickets and passes. The lodge said state lawmakers must act fast—insurance carriers are leaving Oregon. KATU
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Two Washington County organizations, including Hillsboro’s STAGES Performing Arts Youth Academy, will receive $10,000 from the Oregon Arts Commission to expand creative learning opportunities for students — part of a $310,000 statewide Arts Learning grant program scheduled to award funds by next summer. - ➤ Two hundred Oregon National Guard members remain under federal status in Portland after a Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals issued an administrative stay on Wednesday—blocking their deployment following approval by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth. A hearing will take place today at 9 a.m.—with the court set to decide on the issue as local officials call for calm. KOIN

- ➤ The Westside High School Football Committee released its predictions for this week’s games based on a record of 12 to 4 last week and 49 to 15 over four weeks.
