ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A recent study by marine geologist Chris Goldfinger at Oregon State University found that a magnitude 8 or 9 quake on the Cascadia Subduction Zone may trigger quakes along the San Andreas Fault, which could strain emergency resources in cities such as San Francisco, Portland, Seattle and Vancouver—adding urgency to Gov. Tina Kotek’s plan to retrofit state buildings following her September executive order.  Hillsboro News-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • TriMet will reduce bus service on lines 35, 52, 77 and 81 starting Nov. 30 by having buses arrive hourly after 9 p.m. (FX2-Division buses will run every 24 to 35 minutes overnight) and deeper cuts are planned for Nov. 2026 to address a $300 million budget shortfall.
