CULTURE NEWS

  • On Nov. 4, from 5—8 p.m., Hillsboro’s Walters Cultural Arts Center will host a free Día de los Muertos celebration where Huehca Omeyocan leads an interactive film screening, discussion and live performance that honors Indigenous roots. The family-friendly event offers dance, drumming and reflection to help guests remember loved ones and embrace ancestral traditions.  Hillsboro News-Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Banks defeated Valley Catholic 57—6 on Oct. 24 at Kelly Field as the Braves scored 43 points in the first quarter before Valley Catholic forfeited in the second half. Running back Henry White led the team with 135 rushing yards and helped Banks remain undefeated at 8—0.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • On Friday, the Hillsboro High Spartans beat Forest Grove 50 to 36 at Hare Field with junior Emmett Curl rushing for 184 yards and scoring 4 touchdowns while switching from quarterback to running back. The win improved their record in Special District 2 play and set up a crucial game at Canby on Oct. 31 to decide their playoff spot.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • Local high school football teams played on Friday night with scores that ranged from close wins to blowouts—Sunset beat Beaverton 79-62 and Hillsboro won 50-36 over Forest Grove among other matchups in different classes.
