- ➤ Small business owners will connect with government agencies, industry partners, and community resources at the fourth annual Westside Small Business & Workforce Open House. The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on November 5 at Portland Community College’s Willow Creek Center in Hillsboro — it is co-hosted by the city and Washington County with support from Metro and PCC to provide educational resources on public contracting and equitable economic growth. - ➤ Updated forecasts show that rain will hold off until after Halloween so Hillsboro trick-or-treaters can enjoy a dry evening—modest rainfall is expected to begin late Friday and turn heavier by Saturday with temperatures near 60. KATU
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Medicare open enrollment began Oct 15 and will run through Dec 7 as the Oregon Department of Human Services and the SHIBA program offer free help so seniors can choose a plan. SHIBA counselors warn seniors to keep their Medicare numbers private—steps designed to stop scams. Hillsboro News-Times

- ➤ Hillsboro Hops is on schedule to complete a new $150 million ballpark on Dec. 19 that seats 4,300 fans with room for 7,000—its design features a shaded seating bowl, premium club level, advanced sound and LED systems, and three full-service kitchens; the venue will host sports, concerts and community events while the old stadium is repurposed for local sports.
