GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The FAA mandated flight cuts at 40 major airports because the government shutdown has led to staff shortages and safety concerns, causing PDX to report 32 delays and 16 cancellations on Saturday and planning two delays and 17 cancellations for today—airlines are ordered to cut 10% of flights by Nov. 14 with more cuts possible before Thanksgiving until the shutdown ends.  KATU

SPORTS NEWS

  • On November 7, Jesuit High School's football team beat Tualatin 34-33 in overtime in a state playoffs opener at Jesuit High School—junior Luke Ortner ran for 234 yards with four touchdowns. They advanced to the quarterfinals and will face West Linn next Friday.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • The tenth-ranked Lakeridge football team upset seventh-ranked Glencoe 35-21 on Friday at Hare Field, advancing to the state quarterfinals. The Pacers will play No. 2 Nelson on Nov. 14 (Ansu Sanoe rushed for 168 yards and scored five touchdowns).  Hillsboro News-Times
  • On Friday night, Banks High won 39-8 over Sutherlin in the OSAA 3A state playoffs at Banks High, overcoming an early injury to key player Jarrett Martin—coach Cole Linehan praised his team’s discipline and readiness. The Braves will prepare at Hare Field in Hillsboro for next week’s state quarterfinals against Kennedy.  Hillsboro News-Times
