ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Hillsboro Police officer responded to a traffic accident near West Baseline Road and Southwest Dennis Avenue and found a dog trapped in a car trunk so he crawled inside to save it—quickly reuniting it with its owner and helping change a tire for a motorist.  KATU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two Washington County libraries faced challenges when Sherwood library found books on pride hidden on its shelves and Tualatin library quickly cleaned racist graffiti from a bathroom—state records show reported challenges dropped by 21% from July 1 to June 30. Local librarians now wait to see how a new centralized system for selecting books will work once it starts early next year.  Hillsboro News-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Department of State Lands removed over 100 tons of material from long-used homeless camps in Sandy River Delta in Troutdale. Officials will patrol the area weekly to clear new debris and are still working on housing plans for some of the 30+ people who had lived there.  KATU
