Good morning, Hillsboro. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 20th of November.

ECONOMY NEWS

  • On Wednesday, the Oregon Office of Economic Analysis released the December forecast showing that the state’s general fund has improved to a $63.1 million deficit from a $327.7 million deficit as corporate income tax revenue increased by $309.5 million amid federal uncertainty. Gov. Tina Kotek and other lawmakers said they will work to safeguard essential services and support Oregonians facing higher living costs.  KOIN

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Kotek ordered state agencies to remove obstacles in clean energy permitting and transmission and to work on policy proposals for the Legislature by 2027 — she required over a dozen agencies to provide quarterly updates as they pursue the state's renewable energy and greenhouse gas goals.  Hillsboro News-Times
  • State economists said that extra revenue from corporate income tax adjustments reduced Oregon’s budget deficit from $373 million to $63 million over the two-year cycle ending in June — a change that reflects the state’s ability to pull unexpected funds amid ongoing economic challenges. Lawmakers noted that while the new forecast shows improved fiscal strength, upcoming employment data and global tariff decisions may alter the future outlook.  Hillsboro News-Times
