- ➤ On Wednesday, Dec. 3, the Washington County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual awards gala at NW Events & Environments in Hillsboro at 5:30 p.m.—tickets cost $95 as local leaders are honored and President and CEO Deanna Palm retires with Josh Tompkins set to succeed her on Dec. 1. - ➤ Hillsboro’s Walters Cultural Arts Center will host its annual Artisan Pop-Up Shop on Tuesday, Dec. 9 from 5—8 p.m. where over 40 local vendors will offer unique handmade gifts, and the Walters Gallery will run its Small Works Show featuring original art no larger than 10 inches and priced at $150 or less to support local artists. - ➤ Today, Columbia Sportswear unveiled new curling uniforms at an event in Beaverton for Team USA, who will compete at the Winter Olympics in Cortina, Italy in February. The uniforms feature an Oregon detail (Mount Hood) and were designed over 18 months to meet athlete needs. KATU
- ➤ Local standout players from McMinnville and neighboring schools earned honors in Pacific Conference boys soccer—Edwin Cuevas George was named Player of the Year and coach Adam Howard was named Coach of the Year. The awards include first and second team honorees from McMinnville, Glencoe, Sherwood, Forest Grove, Liberty, Century and Newberg—highlighting strong regional talent in the season.
