Good morning, Hillsboro.

State economist Carl Riccadonna told lawmakers yesterday that Oregon’s growth slowed, 18,000 nonfarming jobs were lost and unemployment rose to 5%—with Multnomah and Washington counties hit the hardest.

He said moderate growth may begin in 2026 if lower interest rates and tariff cuts spur more business investment.

NWOC Volleyball 2025 awards were announced for top high school players as Kayleanni Schiedler of Centennial was named Player of the Year—local Hillsboro senior Adrie Raatz earned a First Team honor among other regional athletes.

Predictions from the Westside High School Football Committee released Friday show that West Linn is favored against Central Catholic and Lake Oswego is expected to beat Nelson at Hillsboro Stadium as teams (from 6A through 2A) prepare for state semifinal games this week.

The committee, which has a record (122 to 27 over nine weeks), expanded its scope to include all remaining high school contests.
