- ➤ A Portland bookstore is partnering with The FLIP Museum in Hillsboro to open a bilingual popup shop at 136 S.E. Third St. that will offer educational books and toys for holiday shopping from Nov. 28 until Dec. 31—visiting the museum is optional as both groups hope the event grows into a long-term partnership supporting bilingual literacy. - ➤ Energy Trust of Oregon is urging residents to use federal tax credits along with state incentives to install energy-efficient equipment like heating and cooling pumps, solar panels and insulation before the credits expire in just over a month. Homeowners must complete upgrades by Dec. 31 and can claim the credits through contractors or online—helping reduce energy bills. Hillsboro News-Times
- ➤ More than 81 million people are set to travel 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving week, with nearly 90% driving, according to AAA Travel. Local drivers should plan ahead as I‑5 may experience heavy delays—especially on Friday afternoon. KOIN
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Tina Kotek declared a fuel emergency to keep fuel flowing after a leak was found in the Olympic Pipeline in Snohomish County—an order that stays in effect until December 24 and lets the state use other methods to bring in fuel; Oregon DOT will work through the holiday to clear busy roads for drivers. - ➤ On November 24, Oregon and eight other states proposed a $7 million settlement with Greystar to stop the landlord from using algorithmic rent-setting software that used confidential data to raise prices.
