- ➤ Winter Village at Orenco Station offers covered ice skating through Jan. 11 with weekly walk-up sessions and special events for kids and sensory-friendly skaters. A Youth Holiday Market will run on Dec. 13 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Frosty Fun is planned for Dec. 23. Hillsboro News-Times

- ➤ NW Natural’s pilot projects that blend hydrogen and renewable natural gas are in flux as partners falter; Tyson halted its project last month and Modern Hydrogen recently laid off most employees. NW Natural laid off 30 workers Wednesday and will review the Portland pilot. Hillsboro News-Times

- ➤ On Thursday, Dec. 11, Pacific University and Willamette University announced that their boards signed a letter of intent to begin merger talks that could create a combined collegiate university, keeping historic names across Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Salem, and Portland while the process may take up to two years to complete. - ➤ Local girls soccer players received All-State honors with Eliza Nisly (Amity) named Player of the Year and Coach Andy Dyer recognized as top coach; first, second, and third teams feature standouts from Valley Catholic, Banks and other local schools as announced. Hillsboro News-Times
