A train derailed at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday in North Plains near NW Main Street and NW Hillcrest Street—no injuries were reported and emergency crews with a hazmat team are monitoring the scene while traffic is affected.

Marquez Goldsby II, a 21-year-old from Aloha, was arrested in Washington County on Friday, Aug 8 in connection with a June 29 downtown Portland shooting where a witness reported gunfire but no injuries occurred.

He faces charges including attempted murder and a search warrant led police to recover a handgun — not believed to be the weapon used in the incident.

David Schapiro, a Hillsboro School District bus driver, donated his 100th gallon of platelets to the American Red Cross yesterday—a milestone that has helped save over 400 lives.

He said nearly 30 years of donations set a new goal for him and he plans to keep donating because he believes that if you can help, you should help.
